Overview
Founded by Herbert Westervelt in 1884, we have seen much in our history – the Great Depression, two World Wars, two turns of the century, and our own historical events that have shaped the Westervelt Experience.
From our past producing grocery bags, paper, and paperboard packaging to our future as we continue to seek innovative ways of managing our resources, The Westervelt Company has continually adapted.
At The Westervelt Company, we are stewards of the land. We believe in sustainable management, conservation and protection of our natural resources. We are committed to our core values of ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, providing the highest quality products and services for our customers, developing long-lasting, inclusive relationships in the diverse communities where we live and work, and advancing a culture where everyone is valued and respected.
The beliefs that guide every decision that we make as a company include:
Our success relies on providing our employees with the opportunities and expectations of excellence.
Safety
Westervelt maintains a culture of safe practices and strict protocol throughout the company, most notably at our manufacturing facilities. There is nothing we do more important than safety, whether it's our employees, our customers or visitors to our sites. Regardless of how hard we work, if we do not take care of our employees, we aren't doing enough.
Throughout The Westervelt Company, safety is more than a catch word – it's a way of life, a commitment and an expectation. Safety managers lead the effort, but each employee plays a critical role. We believe we have the best workforce in the industry, and ensuring they have the opportunity to work safely every day is our most vital commitment to them.
We take a proactive approach to safety, and our employees are committed to safe behaviors and practices. It is our core belief that a safe working environment not only helps our employees, but increases our productivity and our ability to make a positive impact.
We know that working safely improves everything else we do. It's another way we put the right things first. When we ensure that everyone who comes onto our site, into our facilities or onto our property goes home safely at the end of the day, we have made an accomplishment.
The Westervelt ACT – A Committed Team for Safety program promotes safety in everything we do, whether in the workplace or at home. At Westervelt, a culture of safety begins with the continuous focus on being safe, regardless of context or task.
We share an appreciation for the forest and our natural resources, regardless of our role. It's an experience – The Westervelt Experience. The Westervelt Experience combines our legacy of stewardship and sustainability with our values. Together, this defines who we are.
